A Tram Journey to the Peak
6.30pm, Tuesday 18th June

Pre-conference social activity

Victoria Peak is undoubtedly one of the most awe-inspiring destinations in Hong Kong. You can embark on a scenic one-hour hike through picturesque trails from the eastern or western districts of the city, or opt for a quick 10-minute tram ride from the city centre. The Peak Tram, in operation since 1888, was originally used by British governors and Peak residents, but now serves as a captivating journey with stunning views of the Harbour that is a highlight for most tourists visiting Hong Kong.

We invite conference participants to join us on the tram ride to the peak, followed by a brief walk to the most instagrammable Harbour View, and an optional meet up at the beer garden (which also serves non-alcoholic drinks).

There is no pre-payment charge. Peak tram tickets may be purchased on arrival at the Peak Tram Lower Terminus, 33 Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong island. The Peak Tram runs at 15–20-minute intervals between the lower and upper terminuses. Weather permitting, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a stunning sunset at the Peak.

The cost of a return ticket on the peak tram is currently (as at February, 2024) HK$88 for an adult (12-64 years) or HK$44 for seniors (65+)/children (3-11). A single ticket is cheaper for anyone who wishes to walk down. A range of additional charges are made for viewing from a higher viewing platform at the peak called the sky terrace. Please see details at the link
